Blue Blue Chip Experience
On a beautiful summer evening in 1996, we were customers in a cookie and ice cream store in Town Center Plaza - a new shopping center that had just opened in Leawood, Kansas. We were discussing our plans to leave the corporate environment and operate our own business.
The independence, opportunities, and adventure of small business ownership had always been appealing. We had developed three criteria for our new business and had looked at several opportunities in the small-manufacturing and service areas. Our criteria were:
A business that was something we could do together.
A business that was low-tech – a welcome change after more than thirty years in information technology.
A business that would allow us to be involved in the entire process, from product creation through final sale.
After enjoying the best cookies we had ever tasted, we learned that the owners’ personal circumstances required that they sell the business and move back to their home state. As we considered the business, we saw that it met our criteria and looked like fun besides!
We purchased the store – the first Blue Chip Cookies store in the Kansas City area – and began our new life as business owners - and makers of the best cookies around!

Our Customers are #1
In the following years, we have worked hard and learned a lot, but our emphasis on the highest quality has never wavered. Every day, we make cookies that our customers agree are the best they’ve ever had – and we have very discerning customers! Many enjoy our cookies so much that they take them to their own customers when they want to make a good impression.
Making a Difference for Young People
One of the real blessings of our business has been the opportunity to work with young people, often giving them their first job and helping them to learn and grow into responsible employees. They help us maintain our standard of high quality and friendly customer service. Some have stayed with us through their high school and college years, and we really enjoy being a part of their lives.
Giving Back to the Community
From the very first day, we have made it a priority to give back to the community. We donate our unsold cookies each day to Harvesters, a food bank for the collection and distribution of food serving the greater Kansas City area. We also love providing coupons and donations for events at churches and schools.
After seven years of operating our first store, we decided to expand. We opened our second store in the Summit Woods Crossing shopping center in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
For nearly four years, we enjoyed operating that store and introducing new customers to Blue Chip Cookies. Then, in October of 2007, John and Cindy Blackburn bought the store in Lee’s Summit, where they continue to make the best cookies in Missouri!

Recent customer letter to the Ramsdells:
To The Best Cookie Makers,
I work for a major insurance company, and hire vendors left and right, for services needed. Recently one of my newly hired vendors came by to formally introduce himself. He is the president/owner of Infinity, his name is Steve Sales. He dropped off a tin of assorted cookies with a smile stating, "let me know how you like those." When I opened the tin my eyes were delighted to see yummy cookies. I assumed they were hard like the average cookie of that size from Wal-Mart, Sams, or the grocery store. But to my surprise, and the co-workers I chose to bless with such a wonderful cookie, found them to be so soft, chewie, and absolute fresh.
I thought maybe his wife made them and just used the tin, as many people re-use those types of tins. I sent him a thank you, and decided that was not good enough, that I needed to Google the company and formally send an affirmation of a great cookie.
I am not sure if Steve is a frequent customer, but to his wonderful gift,
I sure will be.
Sincerely,
Sarah P.
